An exclusive release of Liars Bench’s “Nielsen Schmielsen” double IPA and performance of Harry Nilsson’s “Nilsson Schmilsson” by Jazzputin.
Doors at 8pm | Show at 9pm | 21+
$12 Advanced | $15 Day of Show
About Long Play: An Album-Inspired Beer & Concert Project
Presented by The Press Room and Liars Bench Beer Co. featuring Harry Nilsson’s “Nilsson Schmilsson” (performed by Jazzputin & friends) and Liars Bench’s “Nielsen Schmielsen” (double IPA exclusive release).
Let’s take a little trip back to 1971. It’ll still be a few years until Harry Nilsson will gain notoriety as John Lennon’s go-to Hollywood drinking buddy (and Smothers Brothers heckling cohort). Few know that the man is about to release his masterpiece. We’re referring to Nilsson Schmilsson, of course—the record that would go on to make Nilsson a household name, earn him placement on Pitchfork’s “Top 100 Albums of the 1970s,” and cement his standing among music history’s most beloved singers and songwriters. This, friends, is an album worth celebrating. Which is why we couldn’t have been more excited to learn that it was a favorite of our good buds at Liars Bench—and when they approached us to help them play proper tribute to it, we jumped at the chance. So, Liars Bench is releasing a delightful limited double IPA inspired by the record (fittingly named Nielsen Schmielsen and brewed with the famed Nelson Sauvin hops)—the perfect beverage to enjoy as the incredible Jazzputin, along with friends Taylor O’Donnell, Dave Talmage and more, perform their own unique recreation of this treasured piece of music at The Press Room.
After performing Nilsson Schmillson, Jazzputin will close the night with a second set of their original tunes and signature off-kilter renditions of popular songs.
Feeling a little sour? Join us for a tropical taste explosion to kick off Portsmouth Beer Week! We’ll feature four special sour beers at our Sunday Brunch on February 23rd, with sour menu specials and some suggested pairings, too. Order our Pucker Up sampler tray, and try all four:

Whether you love sour beer, or really *want* to love sour beer, we have a special tour for you! Throwback Co-Founder Annette, lover of all things sour, is going to host a Let’s Get Sour Tour, where she will deep dive on the topic of sour beer. Annette will cover:
– How sours are made (kettle, barrel, foeder, coolship)
– Sour styles
– Yeasties – Brett, Pedio, Lacto, Acetobacter
– The magic of pH
– What’s with the lactose?
The tour starts at 1pm on February 23rd and includes a sampling of all four featured Sour Sunday beers! You’ll also get plenty of time for Q&A with Annette. Grab your tickets at the link above. They are $15 per person, and only 20 are available. Tour should last about 45 minutes. Cheers!

This year’s offerings are:
CRANBARREL — This cider is aged in Bourbon barrels for six months then Massachusetts cranberries are introduced — which gives this off-dry cider great acidity and brightens the barrel flavor. 5.75% ABV
RYE — Aged in rye whisky barrels from Flag Hill Distillery in Lee, NH, this cider is heaven for barrel aged cider fans. It is off-dry and has huge vanilla and whisky notes that are complemented nicely by the light oak from the barrels. 6.75%ABV
OLD FORREST — This off-dry cider is aged in 7 year-old Woodford Reserve barrels. These special barrels give the cider a wonderful vanilla nose and rich color. 6% ABV
DOUBLE HAUL — This off-dry cider is aged in Flag Hill’s heavy rum barrels for four months. These incredible barrels add complex notes that play deliciously well with our cider. 5.5% ABV
BERRY BRETT — This dry and funky cider is aged in Woodford Reserve barrels with the addition of blackberries, blueberries and pomegranate, along with Brett. 8.0% ABV
UVARUM — This dry cider is wild fermented in a Flag Hill rye whisky barrel with the addition of experimental grape grown at the UNH Farm. It is then aged for two months. 6.0% ABV
