About Strange Brew:  Purporting to be loosely based on Hamlet, Strange Brew is about an evil braumeister at the Elsinore Brewery who has discovered an additive that when guzzled in beer, allows the drinkers to be easily controlled. Braumeister Smith (Max von Sydow) has a plan to take over the world with his new brew, and only the Great White hosers of the North, Bob and Doug McKenzie (Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas) — with their plaid shirts, ski toques, fur-lined parkas, and addiction to beer — can stop the dastardly plan, sober or not.

Great Rhythm Movie & Popcorn Night @ Great Rhythm Brewing
Feb 28 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Do you like movies, popcorn, music, and beer? We do too!

We will be screening Festival Express, which followed many of the greats that laid the foundation of rock ‘n roll. The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, The Band, Buddy Guy, and many more ride aboard a train thundering through Canada playing festivals where, and when, they stopped along the way.

The footage from these stops is historic. Even better is the depiction of what happens between those shows aboard the train they called home for just over a week. Hop aboard with us as we get schooled on the history of rock ‘n roll.

And of coarse, there will be flights and specialty popcorns to enjoy while you watch!

New Belgium Sour Sampling @ Raleigh Wine Bar and Market
Mar 1 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Join New Belgium Brewery at the Raleigh Wine Bar and Market for a Sour Sampling.

The sampling will include:

  • New Belgium Clutch: This pleasing, two-part, potion was brewed with chocolate and black malts for a rich and roasty overtone, then fused with a dry, substratum of sour for a bold and audacious flavor. Black as night, this beer is blended at 80% stout, 20% dark sour wood beer for a collaboration that begins with a sour edge and finishes with a big, dark malt character, lingering, sweet on your palate.
  • New Belgium La Folie, Sour Brown Ale: La Folie, French for “the folly,” is a beer steeped in New Belgium brewing tradition. This wood-aged, sour brown spends one to three years in big, oak barrels, known as foeders. And when the beer finally hits the glass, La Folie is sharp and sour, full of green apple, cherry, and plum-skin notes. Pouring a deep mahogany, the mouthfeel will get you puckering while the smooth finish will get you smiling. Not a beer for the timid, La Folie is a sour delight that will turn your tongue on its head. Find out why it’s considered one of the best sour beers around.
  • New Belgium French Oak Saison: The result is a rustic, goldenrod yellow saison offering pleasant lemon and white grape aromas and a bright, mouthwatering sourness with a clean, dry finish.
